Sometimes we make creativity and personal growth more complicated than it needs to be. Although there are countless systems, courses, books, and other resources to help us reach our creative potential, it all begins with one simple concept: your mindset.

Your mind controls everything else in your life. I’m thrilled that my guest today, Kenny Aronson, is here to help us grow and develop our mindset. But it’s not just any mindset—it’s a da Vinci mindset.

Kenny is an entrepreneur, engineering student, and host of the “Let’s Talk Business” podcast. Kenny and I got to know each other earlier this year, and we soon found we had a lot of mutual interests, including a love of learning and of course, Leonardo da Vinci. He had me as a guest on his podcast, and now I am pleased to feature him on mine.

In our conversation, Kenny shares a lot of great insights, including: the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset, how to begin teaching others if you don’t see yourself as a teacher, his process for taking notes, the habit that has impacted Kenny the most recently, and much more.

Ask Kent

Steve Sponseller asks, “Do you have any tips for getting into a ‘creative state’? If I’m buried in a work project or other non-creative task, how can I get out of that ‘non-creative mode’ and start generating creative ides. For example, when I finish one project that doesn’t require creativity and I switch to a new project where I must be creative.”

Key Takeaways

  1. Choose a growth mindset instead of a fixed mindset.
  2. Take action on what you are learning.
  3. Teach what you are learning.
