The Top 13 Podcasts for Business Writers

I love “Top Ten” lists (although in this case, it’s Top Thirteen). However, I also realize they are kind of arbitrary to some degree. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then a quote-unquote “top podcast” is is in the eyes of the listener. Or rather, in the “ears” of the listener.

That said, I do think there is a lot of value in sitting down and trying to determine which tools and resources are the ones you truly recommend. So I’ve gone through my extensive lists of podcasts that I listen to and curated the ones I think are the best for business writers.

Before I get into the list itself, here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

First, I value learning from a variety of sources. This means not all the shows on my list are directly about business writing.

In fact, most of them are not on the narrow topic of business writing. But they will all help you in your goal to become and better or more successful business writer.

Second, I have a specific set of criteria for inclusion on the list:

• The show has to be currently producing episodes.
• I have to honestly listen to the show on at least a semi-regular basis. Meaning: I have to honestly be able to say this is a show I listen to. Keep in mind that there are a LOT of podcasts on writing and business out there. A lot of them are fantastic. But I’ve excluded the ones I don’t personally listen to, or haven’t listened to in a long time.
• To be included in my list, the show also has to offer something of value in writing skills, business skills, or mindset. “Mindset” is a broad term, but it’s probably the most important. Without the right type of mindset for success, all the skills or knowledge in the world won’t help you. So I find that the show dealing with attitude or mindset are the ones that help me the most.
